We continued planting plants and improving our site.
We planted some more plants, hired Chemlawn to take care of things when we're
gone, and changed our TV provider from Dish to Directv. We also sealed the
pavers on our site and set up some posts with our address and also installed a
chain that keeps people from driving onto our pad. We found a used frame for a
picnic table and bought some wood and screws to remake the table and benches.
This is going to be left for our tenants.
We also bought a really nice patio set of tables and chairs - this is for us and
will be put in Joanie and Earl's storage unit until we get our own!

In addition we all kept busy doing fun things.
We both got involved with long walks in the morning. Norm and Kenny did
about 3 1/2 miles just about every morning and Shelley did almost as much with a
grioup of women. Shelley played 2 rounds of golf with some friends and also organized a Pizza
Party one evening with about 70 people attending. We went out for dinner a
few times a week, most of the time with 2-4 other couples. Our friends
Earl and Joannie Bell arrived from NH and we met another couple, Mike and Janice
Seigel from suburban Toronto. On Wednesday, 12/13, 12 of us went o Manny's
for dinner. This is a local eatery that has a special on Wednesday
night....Buy one order of fajitas for $9.95, get a second free. So, if you add in a salad, dinner for 2 comes out to be only
$15-20 and you take home enough leftovers for a lunch or dinner. Anyway, Joannie invited us to her RV for dinner on Thursday prior to our leaving
Deer Creek. When we got there, Earl was sitting in his golf cart and told
us that the dinner got too complicated, and so Joannie had moved things to a
nearby clubhouse. When we got there...SURPRISE...Kenny and Anne, Joannie
and Earl, Michael and Janice and Tom and Cathy were all there for a bon voyage
dinner for us, since we were leaving in a few days. What a surprise and so
much fun. There was so much fun and so much delicious food. We're
lucky to have so many good friends here.

On Monday, December 18, we packed up our stuff. We left at about 10:30 AM and pulled into
John Prince Park, in Lake Worth FL just south of West Palm Beach, during the
early afternoon. It seems as if we've been doing nothing but eating since
we arrived here. On our first day, we invited Norm's mom, who lives
nearby, over for an easy dinner of hot dogs and burgers. George and Myrna Wolkoff, CHAI members who live nearby, spent Tuesday afternoon with us, and then
we out to dinner together at Dave's Last Resort in a trendy neighborhood of Lake Worth. We spent
late Wednesday afternoon and evening with Norm's mom. We went to a nearby
kosher deli (which Norm loves) and then saw a really wonderful movie, with Will
Smith. Its based on a true story, and that makes it even better.
Thursday evening we met Ron and Gayle Bard at their home in nearby Palm Beach.
They live in a development called River Walk, and the homes there are really
neat. Ron and Gayle were planning to leave the following morning for a
trip to the southwest, and we plan to meet them when we're in the same
neighborhood. And on Friday evening we visited with Bobbie and Selma Keil
who live in Coral Springs, about 25 miles to the SSW, They are both
teachers, and Bobbie is retiring this spring and Selma a year later. Selma
prepared a delicious meal for us, and we spent the evening chewing the fat. During
the last 2 weeks of December we kept busy seeing friends and also Norm's mom.
We also got reacquainted with friends from last year, Vivian and Constant,
French Canadians from Sherbrooke, Quebec. They also have a Shih-Tzu, but
Bella has hair that is about down to the ground, and there is usually a ribbon
in her hair. She looks very different that Rags. We also noticed
that the campsites here are populated by many different things. There are
the usual assortment of Class A motorhomes (like ours), 5th wheels and travel
trailers, and each come in greatly varying sizes. There are also a large
number of Class B and Class C motorhomes. Also, many sites have tents and
screened in rooms. We have also seen a few really unusual things.
On a tree close to our campsite, there is this tree that has become home for an
Iguana and her babies. They are there all the time. Other unusual
things we've seen is this 26 foot sailboat on a trailer parked in one site and plugged into
electricity and connected to water. The owner had planned to be docked in
a marina, but he hurt his leg getting off the boat and he
thought it would be easier to get off and on the boat in a campsite rather then
in a dock. Today we went to the beach
for a while and then drove down Route A1A to view the mansions (and that's an
understatement) along the spit of land between the ocean and the Intracoastal
Waterway. Really incredible!! We took Norm's mom to another movie, The
Holiday, which was just OK.
