March 2008

Home Up

On Saturday, March 1 we left our friends and took some back roads (I95 N to Blue Heron Road, then west for about a mile to 704W to 441N to 60W to 27N).  We arrived at Deer Creek and got settled back in our site.  It didn't take long for us to get back in the swing of things.  We got invited, with about 5 or 6 other couples to go to nearby Old Town, where locals bring their antique cars.  We were all having a good time until our friend Earl was taken to the hospital with extreme shortness of breath.  [Davenport, FL. - Deer Creek CG - 28.14N / 81.38 W].  On Monday, Shelley had some root canal surgery, and Norm went and did some Disney business, getting ready to go back to work.  We also got some good news about Earl,  his kidney's are apparently in better shape than feared, and he will not need dialysis.

We spent all of March at our lot in Deer Creek.  Earl had triple bypass surgery, and after some really slow recuperation, he is slowly on the road to getting better.  He has been getting out of bed for the last few days, and has started eating and breathing on his own.  Although he still needs dialysis every other day, everything seems to be pointing toward a release from the hospital, although it may still be several weeks away.

Work at Disney was fun for Norm.  He worked at Mombasa Market, in the Africa section of Animal Kingdom, selling things in the store.  His coworkers were a mix of young and old, with some coming from out of the country and others being locals.  Between this group, and the guests, the days at work were always interesting.  We also continued to play pickle ball, either once or twice weekly.  We had lots of fun getting exercise and also met some nice people.
